She said....

"a little bit more."    Her first four word sentence !!!!   (refering to toothpaste.)

Proud Parents

As you know, we have been preparing for Kristen's first year of school the last few weeks. (preschool)  We have rearranged one of the rooms in the basement and made it a "learning room."  We have gathered books and set up a schedule.  We have garage saled like crazy to find learning games, magnets, shapes, and other manipulatives.  And the whole setting up process has been so exciting and fun for the teacher in me.

Kristen has been a smart cookie from the beginning.  She quickly picked up colors, shapes, letters, numbers, counting and now she is learning phonics without much guidance.  I have been blown away by how easy it has been to play, and as a by-product teach Kristen.

But to actually stand at a white board and teach her has been a new and fun experience.  Every morning, we have a miniature lesson including the day of the week, a bible story and a bible verse.   And I am sooooo proud to report that Kristen has two bible verses memorized and is working on her third.

We started with Exodus 20:12  "Honor your mother and father," which she picked up in a couple of days.  Then we worked on Psalms 107:1 "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.  His love endures forever."  And she now has that memorized.  Her third verse is  Isaiah 41:10  "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."    She also has a couple others mostly memorized due to songs, including Psalm 91:1 and 2  "He who dwellth in the shelter of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, My Refuge and My Fotress, My God in whom I trust."

I am just so excited that my daughter loves to read her bible, asks us to tell her bible stories while we drive in the car, and now is happily hiding God's Word in her heart.  I pray that she will always find joy in reading what God has to say to her and that she will have a tender, teachable heart that seeks His ways.  (And I pray that Audrey will see this love and joy and want it too.)

Oh wait he missed

STILL one little bug flying in the house

teasing Miss Audrey saying "can't catch me, can't catch me."

Along comes her daddy quiet as can be and smacked that bug right out of the ....

Missed again!   Why didn't you get him?  Where did he go???

Can you PLEASE get him?

Daddy is wearing me out. I wish he would just catch that silly bug already! I need a break so I'm going to just lay my pretty little head down on the table while Daddy keeps waving his arms around.

Audrey loves to paint

Audrey is thrilled that Kristen and I are finally allowing her to paint. Before I was a little nervous about all the mess and the girls sharing the easel, so Audrey did not get to paint much.  But now it is a favorite pastime.
