She said...

"I know what we should do mommy.  If the Cardinals win, we should make a big, big sign that says, 'Good job Cardinals for winning the World Series.'

"And if they don't win, but they tried really, really hard, then we could write, ' Good job Cardinals for trying to win the World Series.' "

Go Cardinals!: World Series Game 1

As you know, we are enthusiastic Cardinals fans here at the O'Neal house. Daddy's been telling us all October that the experts just might be wrong and our favorite team just might make it to the World Series. Well, sure enough, they did, in dramatic fashion. Mommy decided that it would be fun to make some special signs to cheer them on in the Series. So here we are with some colorful leaves that we collected. Aren't they pretty?

The Cardinals won Game 1! Woohoo! The excitement builds here at the O'Neal house. Way to go, Allen Craig, on your clutch pinch-hit off of one of Texas's nastiest relievers. The announcers thought you had no chance, but the O'Neal PACK knew you could do it! And Chris Carpenter, you are a ringer! As if your performance in Game 5 of the NLDS when you threw a complete-game shutout of the PHILLIES wasn't enough...you showed up in Game 1 of the Series, BRINGIN IT, even inspiring your mates with your incredible first-inning all-out dive to make the out at first, risking your health but coming out unscathed. No thanks to Albert for a horrible toss but you got his back on that one! (Too bad he doesn't have yours by returning to St Lou with a contract of reasonable length, but I digress).

Go Cardinals!: World Series Game 2

The Cardinals lost game 2. Barely! Kristen was disappointed. especially because the good guys were SO CLOSE to winning that game, coughing up the lead in the 9th. Turns out Jason Motte did have a chink in that armor after all.
Great job, Allen Craig, on ANOTHER clutch pinch-hit. Not so great job, offense, for only scoring one run. come on, boys, how are we going to win this Series if we only score one run in 9 innings??

Go Cardinals! : World Series Game 3

We watched the World Series two nights in a row but then on Friday night there was no game for us to watch. Daddy said it's called a "travel day" for the teams to go from St. Louis to Texas.

I, Kristen, decided that maybe the good guys could use another inspirational sign. so here's my representation of the infield. Daddy said this was one of my best pictures yet!

Turns out my sign worked 'cuz the Cardinals dominated Game 3. Audrey and I like to keep track of the runs that each team has (ever since Mommy and Daddy took me to my first Royals game earlier this year). In this game they were scoring runs so fast, I could hardly keep up. Audrey and I got to celebrate a HOME RUN (one of our favorite parts of Cardinals games!) by Albert Pujols just before we went to bed.  When I woke up in the  morning, Daddy told me that Albert hit two more in that game for a total of THREE! Can you believe that? 3 home runs in one game! Somebody better sign that guy to a 10-year $260-Million dollar contract!
The Cardinals scored SIXTEEN runs in that game and blasted those Rangers. Daddy had so much fun, I think the neighbors probably heard him!
