Funky Mama

Last week, our MOPS group hosted a Funky Mama concert.

  The girls were soooo excited about it.  The morning of the concert, Audrey woke up and came into my room and said "Funky Mama."  I guess we talked it up enough. 

Funky Mama sang traditional songs like "Ring around the Mulberrry Bush" and "The Hokey Pokey" and then some rather unusual songs she had written.

The kids loved singing, dancing and jumping along with the songs.

We were lucky to have the Remier boys come with us.  The girls  sooo  enjoy spending time with them.  (and I love being able to visit with their mom.) 

And Kristen made a new friend, who did not want to let go of Kristen until the concert was over.

Kristen's Fourth Birthday

We started the celebration of Kristen's fourth birthday by going outside and playing with bubbles. 

Both girls loved it.

Audrey liked blowing the bubbles more than catching them. 

Then we went inside and had a late breakfast or brunch.   Audrey started feeling sick and lethargic... so Daddy and Kristen went to the fishing Derby with out her and Mommy. 

Daddy and Kristen had a lot of fun... but didn't catch any fish this time. 

Audrey was glad when they came back, even though she was running a temp and still not feeling well. 

Daddy grilled outside for us... well for three of us and then Kristen opened her presents. 

. 

I think the beads were her favorite.

 

She immediately wanted to make a necklace with her name on it. 

 

                             Audrey had fun making a bracelet too. 

Mommy and Daddy bought Kristen a Dora balloon,

which she loved.

So it was unfortunate that it blew away.  Kristen cried for a while... but Nanna saved the day and bought her a princess balloon to replace it. 

Around 4:00, we headed over to a nearby church that was having a fall festival. 

We invited a few of Kristen's friends to come play too. 

 

She even convinced me to go down with her one time. 

 

The church had hired a band to play for the festival. 

Unfortunately, it was really loud and too close to our dinner table.

 

After dinner, we went back to the bouncy slides again. 

 

The boys and girls split up for a while to do their own things. 

But then gathered back together for cake in the backyard!

Audrey was very glad to see her Mommy again.  Poor sick girl had to stay home from the festival.  Luckily Nanna and Grandma offered to stay with her.  She might have been just as entertained.  When I got home, there was a stack of about fifty books on  the floor and Nanna and Grandma had read them all.

The kids played in the backyard for a few minutes while the adults chatted and cleaned up plates. 

And then it was time to open presents from the guests. 

 

Kristen (and her family and friends) had lots of fun. 

 

The next morning, her actual birthday, she woke up and told us how much fun her birthday was and listed all her favorite details.... she talked all the way through breakfast and half of the way to church.
