Giving

The girls get soooo excited to give their offering money each Sunday.  They will do extra chores and act extra sweet so they can have more money to give.  Neither of them are very interested in spending the money on themselves.  One week, they bought themselves some yougurt pops, but most weeks they save their money for church. 

A few months ago, the girls' Sunday School teachers made visuals for the kids to see and understand how their offering money is spent.  Both girls, but especially Audrey, like to talk about what the money can buy and how it can help the poor children.  Some weeks Audrey wants to help buy a chicken; some weeks she wants to help buy a pig.  But her favorite selection is the purchase of a hen that will lay baby chicks.  It is fun hearing their love for helping.

Also, we just mailed out our Operation Christmas Child boxes. Before we started the project, we watch a short video of  some kids from Haiti opening  their boxes.  The kids were so thrilled with their boxes and so grateful for so little.  The video made a real impression on Kristen's wonderful little heart.  She remembered  buying gifts last year and was so eager to do it again.  Unfortunately, we did not have time to go shopping as a family like we did last year, but the girls still enjoyed packing the boxes and labeling them.  And this year the girls each choose a few of their own toys to donate along with the purchased items.  It was hard for both of them at first, but both of them realized how many toys they had and how few the children in poverty had.
