Laughter fills our house. Between Kristen and Audrey, it seems there is always something funny happening. I love that both of my girls are easily amused, full of joy and love to smile.
Audrey has recently moved into a booster seat and likes being closer to both Mom and Kristen at the dinner table. Thanks, Michelle, for the super cute seat !!!
Baby food has been rejected for table food. If Kristen isn't eating it, then Audrey doesn't want it either. Bananas, Cheerios, grapes, apples and blueberries are her current favorite foods.
Audrey loves her sippy cup! I thought weaning would be hard, but she has suprised me by accepting it without too much of a fuss. Right now she still nurses twice a day, but receives milk in a sippy cup two to three times a day. We'll see how much she protests when I drop her last two feedings.
Crawling quickly led to cruising and I think Audrey will be walking soon. Unfortunately, she has also mastered the skill of crawling up the stairs. Kristen and Phil cheered her on as I groaned at the thought of having to put up a gate for the bottom of the stairs.
Audrey loves being around other kids, especially babies. She is fascinated with them, wants to pet them, watch them and steal their pacifiers. (why I do not know, because she could care less about the pacifiers we have in our house) The church nursery is great because it offers two of her favorite things: babies and goldfish.
Both Phil and I love the eagerness Audrey exhibits when she sees us after a long break (or even a short break.) She smiles, gets on all four, ducks her head down and charges at us at a super speed. She also bounces up and down in the crib with her hands extended up in the air when we greet her in the morning.
A jealous streak has taken over our little Sugar Cookie recently. If Kristen is touching us in anyway, Audrey will crawl over to us and push Kristen away. Kristen is taking it well and tries to help Audrey understand that she has to share her parents.
Audrey enjoys waving and clapping and understands enough language to know when to do each at the appropriate time. In this next one, she demonstrates her early knowledge of baseball signs:
Audrey loves books. But right now, they are just another toy to her. She doesn't sit still long for the actual reading of books. She would much rather take them off the shelf, one at time, flip through the pages, deposit it on the floor, and then move on to the next one on the shelf.
Audrey has started playing catch (handoff ) with a small soft ball. She likes to hand it to one of us and we are supposed to hand it back to her. Occasionally she sort of tosses it, but most of the time she just hands it to us. She smiles and sometimes giggles about it. Sometimes Kristen likes to get in on the game, too. Recently, Audrey has been able to roll the ball as well.
Her understanding of words has developed quickly and she says a couple of words as well. One morning, Audrey said “Hi” to Kristen, totally on her own! Phil was holding Audrey as he walked into Kristen’s room. As soon as he stepped through the doorway, Audrey reached our her hand to do a little wave and said “Hi.” Phil was so surprised, he just stopped and looked at her for a moment. Then Kristen said, “She said ‘hi’ to me”
Another night, after Phil changed Audrey’s diaper, he said “Up” as he picked Audrey up and she said “up.”
And on another night I told Audrey to say night-night to Daddy and Audrey waved her hand and said “nigh-nigh” !!
